Overview
According to the Center’s research on nonprofit technology best practices, nonprofits should demonstrate the following:
- Equipment is appropriate and adequate for their needs
- Staff is appropriately trained in use of software and hardware
- Data is secure, accessible and accurate
- Documented inventory of equipment and software
- Adequate and regular maintenance and support
- Technology policies and procedures are in place including acceptable use guidelines
- Written technology plan
The Center’s technology services help your agency put these best practices in place.
Services Include:
Education & Training
Seminars and computer workshops in technology topics to help your agency be more effective and efficient. Classes are provided in a “hands-on” environment at the United Way computer lab, as well as through a NEW mobile lab for custom trainings at your location.
Technology Consulting
- Assessments & Planning:
The Center can assist agency leadership in identifying their short- and long-term organizational goals and how technology will be a part of achieving those goals. Specific services include:
- Assessment of existing technology and skill sets
- Gap analysis and recommendations for improvements and upgrades
- Technology planning & budgeting
- Database Design:
Are you effectively tracking & using your data? Center data experts can help you:
- Assess your current data tracking and make recommendations for improvements
- Design, update and combine your donor, volunteer, and/or client databases
- Set-up reports and provide added security and tracking methods
- Convert and transfer data to a new, custom-built Access database
- Train staff and volunteers on the use of the new database
- Provide follow-up support for troubleshooting and updates of the database
